Luxury Multifamily Apartment Community

Bennet at Bull Street

About my role

The pool design, layout, and structural elements were established outside of my role. My involvement focused on permitting, finish documentation, project coordination, progress tracking, inspection support, communication, and hands-on field exposure during the coping pour process.

Columbia, South Carolina 2024 Luxury Multifamily Apartment Community
Bennet at Bull Street

Project overview

Bennet at Bull Street is a luxury multifamily development located within Columbia's Bull Street District. The pool, spa, and overall amenity layout were established by the design and engineering team before the project came to me. The completed amenity included a resort-style swimming pool, spa, sun shelf lounging areas, and premium outdoor amenities adjacent to Segra Park. My contribution focused on permitting and inspection coordination, finish documentation, RFI and submittal support, progress photo tracking, and communication between the office, field, inspectors, and contractors. This project was particularly meaningful because it also gave me hands-on field experience alongside the construction team.

Challenges

Balancing project coordination responsibilities with hands-on field work, while keeping permitting, inspections, and finish documentation aligned inside an active multifamily build within one of Columbia's most significant redevelopment districts.

Lessons learned

Working directly alongside the field crew — observing pool construction, assisting with the coping pour, and learning how coping forms are laid out and installed — strengthened my understanding of aquatic construction and bridged project coordination with real-world execution.

Key accomplishments

  • Coordinated permitting, inspections, and finish documentation across the project lifecycle
  • Hands-on field experience assisting with the pool and spa coping pour
  • Maintained organized progress photos and project records
  • Supported delivery of a premium amenity within the Bull Street redevelopment district, adjacent to Segra Park

Hands-On Field Experience

This project was especially meaningful because it gave me time on site to observe construction activities firsthand. I was able to assist with portions of the coping pour for the pool and spa, and learn how coping forms are laid out, built, and installed. The work was led by the field crew — my time on site was about field exposure and construction learning, deepening my understanding of aquatic construction so I can coordinate future projects more effectively.
